They interview these children
It doesn't mean very much:
It's hotter than anything here in this mine
Dark too
Like hell?
[ laughs]
No, not like hell. It's just very hot.
The getters that I work for are naked except their caps; they pull off all their clothes. I see them at work when I go up.

child labor is so not appreciated these days.
ReplyDeleteIn my high school the janitors were actually children slaves like 9 years old or so and they were forced to lick the floor and toilets and stuff and in class instead of chairs we sat on the child slaves. kind of bony and weak tho which took away from my educational experience.. when we were done beating and raping them after class they were like is this Hell? and we were like No, not hell. it's just highschool.
love,
gabe
cos england is smaller we had like - one of those things - caretakers? per school. they are old & live in a cupboard, they exist solely to cover up vomit with little piles of sawdust.
ReplyDeletei'm very ambivalent about child labour, i hope that comes across here.
this is from a report made by the commissioners related to the Factory Act in the 1840s - there's all these kids drinking, sitting 'round a fire. they are laughing at the commissioners because they can't tell who's a girl & who's a boy - even though they are all naked to the waist. the kids think it's fucking hilarious that the gentlemen don't recognise a breast or something
i like it that you got a choice of name

As a child I enjoyed labouring.
ReplyDeleteIt was only as an adult I found it tedious.
